Footballers based in Edwinstowe were celebrating today following a £7,260 award by the Football Foundation, the UKs largest sports charity.The cash bonanza will allow Robin Hood Colts to expand its mini-soccer section, which will provide quality coaching and competitive football for 3 new boys teams and 2 new girls teams over the next 3 years. The award will also allow the club to increase the number of FA level 1 and level 2 coaches within its ranks, and help to promote a new annual tournament which is hoped will strengthen its links with local schools and community groups. The Football Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country. Funded by the FA Premier League, The Football Association, Sport England and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nations largest sports charity with a £53m budget going straight into the very heart of football.Peter Lee, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation welcomed this latest funding boost:We warmly congratulate the club for their hard work and dedication in securing this award. Robin Hood Colts celebrate their second success within a week as the club Child Protection Officers Gary Simmons and Russ Grimwood receive their certificates of nomination at Calverton Miners Welfare during the Nottinghamshire FA - Football Volunteer Awards Night.
