Away to west bridgford arrows

Final Score: 4-2

Goal Scorers: alice,aimiee,elli j,emily

Player of the match: Brooke Ryder & Aimiee Boulton

Trainer of the week: Lois Collingwood

Match Report:

Well the lovely sunshine saw us finish our season at West Bridgford Arrows, there was going to be a new look to the starting line up again today as it was made sure that all girls got a fair run out. Phoebe got injured as we arrived and her leg injury was a problem but Phoebe showed why she is captain and got on with the job in hand.

We started brightly and passed the ball around with brilliant style, Emily and Aimiee combined well and a great run from Alice was spoted by Aimiee who gave a perfect pass and Alice did the rest to give us a one goal lead. We should have gone on from that but credit to WB they came back at us and caused our defence a lot of problems, we failed to close them down and they leveled the score. They went on to control a lot of the ball and failure to close them down again led to a terrific shot from outside if the box beat Lois at her near post, a very good goal and we after a bright start we found ourselves 2-1 down at half time.

So no need to say much at half time only to close our opponents down a bit quicker, and the girls listened and finished the season in brilliant style. Elli J made life very difficult for WB two defenders with her consistant running at them, eventually resulting in a goal past the stretching arms of the home keeper who was having a great game. In fact the keeper made 2 fantastic saves from 2 of Phoebe's free kicks, which the large crowd that watched the game applauded very loudly. We continued to pass the ball very well, but WB did the same and Erin/Georgia/Phoebe plus Lois in goal were doing very well to keep hem at bay. Emily/Katie/Aimiee were amazing in midfield.

The whole game was brilliant and although Emily and Aimiee won the game for us with the 3rd and 4th goal, all of the girls showed what a fantastic game girls football can be. The reception both sets of players received at the end of the game proved this, this could have been a cup final, the standard committment and skill was very high.

Brooke was fantastic today giving it was her first game for us, and we had a joint award for girl of the game today between herself and Aimiee.

Excellent end to an excellent season, well done to everyone associated with the team.

Match Report:

To win football games you have to put the ball in the net and once again our failure to put away our chances came back to haunt us, we were by far the better team on the day, especially in the first half, and played some great stuff but still ended up losing 2-0. However we are on the right track and we're very happy with the girls. We'll get there soon enough.

Away to Castle Donnington

Final Score: 2-3

Goal Scorers: Katie Quinn 2

Trainer of the week: Erin O'Shea

Match Report:

Playing a team we beat 4-1 just 2 weeks ago should be a straight forward win you would think, added further the fact that our opposition were bottom of the league and winless. We started off great scored after 5 minutes, had some other chances but once again failed to put the game away, then we stood off them and allowed them back into the game. They scored right on half time but in fairness to them they deserved it.

2nd half was all Castle Donnington as we failed to play any sort of football but they were awarded a very dubious penalty for handball and although Lois made a great attempt it went into the net, we still failed to get any passes together and we fell 3-1 behind following a mix up at the back. But then we played very well and showed great determination for the last 10 minutes, we managed to pull another goal back but the game ended fairly with a 3-2 win for our opposition. Their first win of the season and they deserved it, hopefully we can learn from this for!

our last 3 games of the season.

Home to Arnold

Final Score: 0-2

Player of the match: Georgia Needham

Trainer of the week: Phoebe Cox

Match Report:

Well Arnold can be added to the list of teams we should have beaten this season but once again our luck in front of goal was to prove our undoing, chance after chance especially in a 10 minute spell at start of 2nd half, great defending plus hitting the post added to our woes again. Then Arnold have a break, a mix up in the box ,a lucky bounce of our defender and were losing 1-0. Typical of our season, a player feeling unwell, a player taking off injured, where is our luck this season, another 3 points go amiss but credit to George and his girls as football is about goals and they scored two.

Very disappointed with the last 15 minutes today only 2 players seemed to try when we were losing which is unlike us.

Our quest for 2nd place looks unlikely now but we have 4 games to finish the season off and you never know what will happen!!!!!!

Home to Southwell

Final Score: 0-0

Player of the match: Georgia Martin

Trainer of the week: Phoebe Cox

Match Report:

2009 may appear on paper and League tables to not be going as planned but things could not be going any better (albeit we can't score). We are playing the best football ever as a squad the 10 players (soon to be 11) are playing so well. In fact our worse preformance so far this year is the only game we have won (1-0 home win over Arrows). We deserved a draw at Pegasus and should have won at Red Star and yesterday at home to Southwell.

Apart from the opening minutes of both halves and a hectic couple of minutes near the end, we were by far the better team. Southwell known for their passing and heading were not allowed to do either thanks mainly to the fantastic approach from our players. Committment never usually a problem for us but today it was there in buckets. But I think the best thing was the passing we passed like never before and had plenty of chances to put pressure on our opponents. Phoebe was sending in Premiership standard corners but we couldn't get on the e!

nd of them, players were heading the ball, yes 3 players rose to the occassion and we're all really chuffed about this.

While we may have only made a few goalscoring chances, our play up until the final shot was superb. Aimiee was unlucky a couple of times and Southwell's two keepers kept her out, the second half save was excellent. Emily, Elli J Alice and Georgia were battling so hard in midfield, Phoebe and Katie solid at the back with Lois not having much to do. (last 2 games only 1 save to make). Erin and Georgia M were playing great in their new role up front.

We may rue this match as 2 points dropped similar to last week, and we will find it difficult to get 2nd place in the League now, however we couldn't ask for anything more, and as I said yesterday this team is building and improving with every game. We have improved in every department and while i can't see us losing any of our remaining fixtures, I just hope we can get a few goals. The season is going bett!

er than expected so keep it up girls and well done.

Girl of the Game :

Georgia M is still learning to play in different positions and today she tried very hard and is improving with each match.

Away to Pegasus

Final Score:0-2

Player of the match: Katie Quinn

Trainer of the week: Emily Collingwood

Match Report:

We knew it was going to be tough, but try telling the girls this, they were fantastic, and we were unlucky today, in fact I can honestly say we didn't deserve to lose.

We competed in every area of the pitch and the committment was second to none, all 10 players played great.

I told the girls the first thing was to concentrate on their player and compete in every tackle which they did. We set out to keep a clean sheet by working hard especially in midfield and this they certainly did. We were not outplayed in any way today. We were well in the game till five minutes before half time when we 'fell asleep' when defending a corner and Pegasus squeezed the ball into the net.

2nd half we were in control and the better team but Pegasus defended very well and resticted our goal scoring chances. Every player got to play a lot today and towards the end we were really going for it but the ball fell for our opponents just outside the box and the resulting shot went flying into th!

e back of the next dispite Lois's best efforts. We were 2-0 down but still pushing forward and only for good saves from their keeper the final scoreline could have been different.

it was another great advert for girls football and although we are very disappointed at losing, Pegasus proved today why they are the best team in the division, we now have to go out to try and get 2nd place in the league, this will be hard as Southwell and Gedling are in with a shout also.

Girl of the game: Katie ; as close to a perfect game as I've ever seen, superb.

Final Score: 1-0

Match Report:

Bits of snow began to fall on Sherwood Fields just before kick off today and with Alan skipping his referee committments in favour of fishing, it was left to a very ill Gerry to ref todays game.West Bridgford Arrows were the opposition and if recents results were anything to go by, this was going to be a close encounter. I think we need to disreguard league tables as they don't give a fair reflection of clubs improvements since early in the season.

RHC started really well and were on top from the start with Emily and Elli J controlling a lot of the front play. Our passing was very good and we had a few chances in front of goal but players choose to pass when the better option would have been to shoot. However, maybe our best passing move of the season set up Elli J for a fantastic goal, 5 players got involved in the move and the finishing of Elli j would have made Mr Owen of Newcastle proud. Georgia and Phoebe looked confortable in defence and Katie Aimiee and Emily were co!

nnecting very well with their passing, however WB defending was excellent in the first half and some last ditch tackling prevented us going into half time more than one goal up. Our midfield tired as the half ended and WB started to get more confident.

Half time saw both sets of players warming up under the excellent heaters in the clubhouse, and I had to laugh when I heard one of the WB players saying she had chicken soup at half time.

WB had much more of the ball than we would have liked in the second half, but Phoebe was clearing everything thrown at her and the 2 subs (Erin and Georgia) were blending in well to the team. We had to do a lot of chasing in the secong half as our opponents passed the ball well and the smallest player on the pitch from WB was running our midfield ragged.

However our teams grit and determination was to shine through once again and when needed Katie and Aimiee delivered. Although WB had a lot of the ball especially in the 2nd half, Lois n!

ever looked uneasy in goal, in fact her handling was excellent!

 , this s

aid WB could still have snatched a draw and in fairness some of thier play deserved a goal, but we wasted a lot of good chances in the first half and once agian failed to close out a game.

Excellent game played by two very sporting and talented teams, all I can say to the rest of the League is watch out fro the Arrows cause they are a very good team.

Girl of the Game Elli J : worked so hard and her technique was first class today, excellent goal to crown a fantastic display.

Match Report:

Yet again another game of two half’s Arnold where slightly the better team in the first half & robin hood colts were not working as hard as they should & as hard as they normally do.

Arnold scored after about 10 mins and seemed to be boosted by their goal. After the goal, the pre-Christmas whatever bug is going around seemed to kick in & we were making substitutes every few minutes, Aimee also got kicked and yet another sub had to be made - Glad to get to half time I think so we could re-group.

Second half was a different story - Phoebe dropped back into defence with Erin, Katie & Aimee both played in centre midfield (Katie slightly forward) and Alice & Elli J played left & right - The team talk worked & we started getting first to the ball & competing for every ball - Everyone worked hard even Emily who had to come off with the Christmas bug - Second half subs all worked hard & all played their part.

10 minutes into the second half, we got our reward followed by another & 10 minutes later finished the game with a third.

All three goals were goal-mouth efforts Alice scored the first when the goal keeper left a small gap to the left & Alice controlled the ball, composed herself and stroked the ball in with her left foot with great confidence - Phoebe then imposed herself on the game with some defensive moments & lunging forward with the ball, she set up both the next two goal one by a huge throw in & the by a cross from the corner flag, Aimiee & Georgia Needham steeped up & both finished with class fist time efforts (& they were good goals as they only had a split second to respond and stroke in the ball) Special mention to Georgia Martins who a had a great 20 minute spell in the second half - Well done to all & keep up the good work.
